Trust in God

God will take care of you

picture of Charles Life’s experiences can cause fear and anxiety. People need support and help of some kind. Psalm 121 suggests that we need to trust in God.
God is able to help us. He is powerful. The Psalmist declares, “My help comes from the LORD” (Psalm 121:2 NIV). He made heaven and earth; surely He is able to help us. We can rely on Him. He watches over us day and night. He is with us, protecting us, watching over us, at all times.
God is willing to help us. We may find that hard to believe when life’s sad experiences cause doubts to arise in our minds. Even John the Baptist had doubts, languishing in prison, wondering if Jesus was really the Messiah. Jesus sent words of encouragement to him. Taking the long look, we can see that God takes care of His people. Their faith influences all their thoughts as they keep going against all odds. God enables us to see life from His point of view. He is willing to help us if we are willing to trust Him.
God wants us to trust Him. He makes promises to us because He loves us; He wants us to trust Him for the same reason. As the New Testament would later declare, “We love Him because He first loved us.” God wants us to trust Him in all circumstances. We face all sorts of situations, but we are to rest quietly in a simple trust of our Father, knowing that He will keep us here and hereafter, in life and in death — and beyond.
Let us trust God and learn to express our trust, to God and to the world. That trust is expressed in the hymn, “God Will Take Care of You.”

“Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you.
Beneath His sheltering wings abide,
God will take care of you.

God will take care of you,
Through every day, o’er all the way,
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.”
