Thankful for Jesus

As we approach Thanksgiving Day this week, perhaps it would be good for us to think about the example of Jesus in giving thanks. In one of his sermons, R.G. Lee said that Jesus was thankful for food, personal gifts, friends, helpful service, revealed truth, answered prayer and even gave thanks as he readied himself for the Cross.
Not only did Jesus show us how to give thanks, He himself is the reason we are thankful.
Among all for which we are thankful, we are most thankful for Jesus and the salvation that He gives to those who believe in Him.
Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” and Peter, speaking for himself and the others, replied, “You are the Christ, the son of the living God.” Bible scholars have taught us to label that statement as, “The Great Confession.”
A great old hymn invites you to “Count your many blessings, name them one by one.” As you mentally repeat all the reasons to be thankful, be sure to put God’s love for you in Christ at the top of the list.
Looking for a good Scripture verse for Thanksgiving? You can’t beat John 3:16.
