The Simple Life

I write a blog. This is it, for better or worse. I don’t accept comments, because I’ve seen what comments look like and they very likely would damage my fragile self image and keep me awake at night, even though I seldom write a blog that might be considered controversial. I’ve noticed that bitter, vitriolic comments on online news follow simple harmless stories, and if I allow comments sooner or later I will be asking, “Who let the dogs out? Woof. Woof.”
I don’t do Facebook or Twitter or any of the other things that may be like them. I don’t have a smart phone or a tablet. I’m way out of date.
My cell phone is just a phone, but the phone company has billed me recently for pictures I cannot display, or at least I think I can’t. I found the “settings” button on it the phone the other day, after using it for five years. I was amazed at some of the “apps” on my simple phone. I did not know they were there.
At my age, the simpler the better. Dwight is forever complaining that “we’ve been over this before.” I’m sorry, I just don’t remember that. Currently I am watching an old television series on Netflix and enjoying it immensely. The only problem with that is, I watched the entire series last year. As I watch it again, little seems familiar.
So, be warned. If I told you before, I may well tell you again. And again. Please smile, or laugh, and tell me you like what I say. That way, everyone goes home happy. I’m none the wiser, and you have done another good deed.
Next Sunday I plan to preach a Thanksgiving sermon I’ve preached to the same church in other years. I will enjoy preaching it as if it is the first time; it will seem new to me. Hope it seems that way for the folks at church.
