Acronymns

The NFL, ABA and MLB are now on ESPN as well as NBC, CBS, ABC, and TNT. I also like NCIS, CIS, and NCISLA because they are like the CIA and the FBI. I prefer TCMHD and the old stuff. I can’t sue the NSA for bugging my TWC because because my AAL charges more than my SSA check will cover.
Do you ever feel lost in the sea of acronymns that now flood the airwaves and creep into daily conversations? There are so many now and people have become familiar with them to the extent that many take for granted your understanding whatever it is they are talking about.
It has been suggested that acronymns be defined within the text when writing, like this: “It is in the best interests of the United States (U.S.) of America (USA) to develop a Tax Plan (TP) that punishes neither America’s Disadvantaged Working Class (ADWC) nor the Independently Wealthy (IW). It should come as no surprise that both the ADWC and IW would like to see a Tax Plan (TP) that includes Lower Tax Rates (LTR), but the demand for LTR must be balanced against the needs of the Taxpaying Public (TP). As a result, the current TP should be eliminated.” (quotation from “Plain Language.gov
This is only one of the many changes to which I have been expected to adjust as I have journeyed from birth to 82. Truly, “this world is not my home..”

Prefer plain talk? OK, here’s a sample: “Unless you repent, you shall perish” (Luke 13:3). Just as plain: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
