Psalm 36

Psalm 36 contrasts sinful man and holy God. It is an encouragement to keep on trusting the Lord no matter what.
Verses 1-4 depict the wicked, who have no fear of God in their hearts, but think that they can hide their evil deeds and not get caught. No longer wise and good, they have become crooked and deceitful. They don’t get much sleep at night, because they are lying awake to plot evil, instead of praying and planning to do good.
Verses 5-9 show us our perfect God, whose steadfast love is higher than the heavens, whose justice is as solid as the mountains, whose wisdom is as abundant as the water in the oceans, and who is completely fair in his dealings with his creation. Hr provides perfect protection and provision, and is the source of all good and necessary things. He is indeed life and light for all.
Verses 10-12 show how belief in God is a practical matter. We can trust this perfect God to do good, to take care of his own, and to render justice.

“Why should I feel discouraged,
Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be weary,
And long for Heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion,
My constant friend is He,
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.”
