December 1, 2009 (Tuesday)
picture of Charles“Tie a yellow ribbon ’round the old Oak tree..” goes the song. There’ll be a lot of ribbon tying this month as Christmas presents are wrapped. Some ribbons will be yellow. Others, red, green, blue, you name it. Did you ever wish you knew a little more about knots? If so, click here. Nice site. Even shows a little movie for you as it demonstrates tying the knot. Oh, you want to tie a bow? OK, click here. I none of this works for you, just keep on googling. You may find something better.
Got any favorites about Christmas? Favorite carol, favorite Bible chapter, favorite Bible character associated with the Christmas story?
Maybe your carol is “Silent Night! Holy Night!” or “Joy to the World!” Is it, “O Come All Ye Faithful?” or perhaps another. What about Bible chapters? Well, it’s Luke 2 hands down for me. But Matthew 2 tells about the Wise Men, and then there are the verses in Luke 2 about Simeon and Anna that many people love. Why not look some of them up and see which one you like the best? Oh, and the Bible character that’s your favorite — who is it? Take a look at the manger scene. Mary and Joseph are there, along with the Wise Men, the angels, the shepherds, the inn keepers, and perhaps others. Who’s your pick as favorite?
As we give attention to what happened long ago, it seems like a pretty good idea to ask ourselves about Christmas 2009. What’s your favorite thing to do at Christmas time? Does it include helping someone in a special way? If you decide to do that, your favorite Christmas may become this one.
