Recognize this person? This photo was made in March, 2004, in Rockport.
What happened, you may ask. Why did you not keep the beard? Well, a number of reasons. First, it was uncomfortable. Second, it seemed to me that a beard sort of builds a barrier between a preacher and his congregation. Third, I just wanted to see if I could do it, and, having done it, I was done. Will I do it again? Not impossible, but not likely.
How about this poor excuse for a driver? This is my drivers license photo, made only a few weeks ago. Seriously, if you were the officer asking for identification, would you believe this is the guy you heard preaching last Sunday? And would you take a chance on him next Sunday? And would you let him keep on driving?
This picture was taken twenty-nine years ago on the only day I have ever worn shorts in public. It’s just not my thing. We were in Phoenix on one of the hottest days of the year. When I was a little boy, I never wore short pants after I was 4 or 5 years old. Not for me.
I haven’t always been old. I was a young guy who liked to play. I had this hat that I pulled down on my head and then let my craziness loose. People laughed, and I liked that.
This picture was made about a year ago as I was trying to get a pose for the blog. The one below with the other information is the way these blogs usually get started each day.
May 10, 2018 (Thursday) Up to this point, this blog may have seemed a bit unusual. The rest of it may seem unusual to some of you. When I was around 5 or 6 years of age, I learned many country and western songs and loved to sing them. Today I was browsing youtube and found a number of those really old songs, and heard the famous singers from the past deliver them. Among the singers I heard back then, and today, were Jimmie Rogers, Governor Jimmie Davis, and several others. Since the very old days, other singers have sung those old songs, and I love to hear some of them, especially Merle Haggard. All those singers are gone now, including Merle Haggard. Here’s one of those real old songs I sang as a child, brought to us by Merle.
I love all kinds of music.
