The word, “Merry,” is not a word we use in ordinary day to day conversation. It is an exciting word, having a long history, and going through many stages of meaning. When I think of the word, “Merry,” today, I think, “Happy!” Be happy, folks, even though your burdens may be heavy. Squeeze the last drop of joy from your heart and mind and be happy. Let me use the word one more time before we leave Christmas, 2017, to history: “Merry Christmas!” Be happy.
