September 11, 2017 (Monday)
By the time you start reading this, you will have already given some thought to the fact that this day is the anniversary of “9/11,” a term that has become a permanent part of our vocabulary.
When I thought about the significance of this day, I decided to write about it, even though you will read and hear about it from many sources today. When I sat down and planned the blog in my imagination, I was thinking of posting pictures of the twin towers with flames and smoke, but as I looked at those pictures, seen by most of us many, many times, thinking about the tragedy saddened me so that I decided to leave off the pictures of the World Trade Towers and publish a picture of Freedom Tower instead. It stands as a testimony to the love of freedom.
It was 16 years ago that the awful attack by terrorists took place. The History Channel has a web site dedicated to 9/11 and all the associated events.Click here to to visit that site. Here is the opening paragraph of that account:
On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.
The war against terrorism worldwide and here at home continues every day. Let us pray that real peace may become the goal of humanity.

I came home to Rockport Saturday and met with the Bethel church for worship on Sunday. We had a beautiful service with the worshipers speaking words of inspiration. When I got home from church, power had been restored to our house. It is so good to have electricity. How on earth did humanity live thousands of years without it? lol. The air conditioner is not working well and will require repairs, but who can complain when all around us are destroyed homes and people with real troubles. And now Florida is joining us in living with a hurricane disaster, probably the worst in nearly 100 years. I will get a PSA test in Corpus Christi tomorrow and return on Wednesday to be evaluated and receive a second injection as treatment for prostate cancer. The office in Rockport has not yet reopened.
