National Take Your Pants for a Walk Day

“Take your pants for a walk” is just a humorous way of saying, “Take a walk.”
My cardiologist told me on my last visit that he was glad I have made it to 85 but then he said, “If you want to make it to 90, you must start walking again.” I did walk two miles three times a week for a number of years, but then I began making excuses, like “It’s too hot” or, just as good an excuse, “It’s too cold.” There’s a line in The Eagles’ song, “Lyin’ Eyes,” that goes, “Did she get tired or did she just get lazy?” I ask myself that every time I fuss at myself for not walking.
There is no doubt about the fact that any type of exercise is better than none at all.
“Use it or lose it” is a common phrase that is based upon fact.
In the old comedy show, “Gomer Pyle,” the sergeant was always yelling at Gomer, “Move it, Pyle, move it! Move it! Move it! Move it!” I suppose I might get back to walking if someone were yelling at me to “Move it!” As it is, the decision is mine.
If there is anyone out there like me that knows he or she ought to be up and at ’em and walking, maybe this special day set aside to walk can get us started again. It’s up to us.
