One Nation Under God

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand” (Matthew 12:25 NIV).
Abraham Lincoln was famous for a speech which included the phrase, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
Our nation is now a house divided. On nearly every issue, citizens seem to be evenly divided in their opinions.
Our pledge of allegiance is to “one nation, under God, indivisible..” We may be indivisible as an organization, but we are divided in many other ways.
Long ago when Solomon led in dedicating the Temple in Jerusalem, God answered his prayer by saying, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.”
If we as a nation are to pull together again, we must meet God’s condition and humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways.
