Pre-Easter Theme: What Jesus Taught Us

Theme for this week: We Can Love God

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, 5, Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. “If Jesus were sitting here, he would say, ‘Let my brother have the first pancake. I can wait.’ “Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, “Ryan, you be Jesus!”

I would like to suggest to all of us that we “be Jesus” and share His love with others. I recently read this statement on the Day Spring web site: “We don’t ‘have-to’ love others, we ‘get-to’ love others.” For us it is a privilege and quite a blessing.

Perhaps some of our readers have never been informed that acts of love toward others are considered very important deeds by the Lord, and shall be rewarded by Him. Jesus described the judgment to come, when we stand before him. Here’s what He will say to His followers: “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Take a look at the paragraph from the Gospel of Matthew that you just read. Jesus will reward deeds of service for those who needed our help during our lifetime. The deeds are not awesome, miraculous, stupendous deeds, but simple acts of love toward others. Our sharing the love of God is considered vitally important by the Lord.

We used to have a motto, “Saved to Serve.” I have not heard that quoted much as the years have gone by. But it is a true statement, worthy of our attention and our full commitment to the Lord.

Jesus said that when He returns, He wants to find us faithful, and that means we will be sharing His love. Click Here

In the Highways, In the Hedges,
In the Highways, In the Hedges,
In the Highways, In the Hedges,
I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord.

When He calls me, I will answer,
When He calls me, I will answer,
When He calls me, I will answer,
I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord.

I’LL BE SHARING HIS LOVE!
