Thank You

Andraé Crouch wrote a song that begins, “How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me?” That line expresses my feelings today as I think back over the weekend, my 85th birthday, and the many cards, gifts and words of love my family and friends have shared with me.
The church has a new sign and last Sunday it read, “Happy Birthday, Brother Charles.” After church there was a feast of celebration, with lots of food and many people present. This in spite of rainy weather.
On Saturday, almost all of my family was able to be here at the house and they all pitched in and provided a dish for a wonderful meal. Our daughter, Dianna, had the idea and everyone else gladly participated.
Dale Pogue wrote a special blog using the letters of “Happy Birthday” as an acrostic. He wrote many wonderful things about me, and I am eternally grateful for that expression of love.
Today I am thankful for the expressions of love from family, friends and church. Most of all, I thank the Lord for giving me bonus years of life to enjoy family, friends and church. Long ago I was told by someone with many years experience that if someone offers you a gift, don’t argue, just thank them and go on with your life. Today, then, I am thanking everyone, including the Lord. The words of “My Tribute,” by Andraé Crouch, express my feelings, and hopefully yours as well:

My Tribute

How can I say thanks for the things
You have done for me?
Things so undeserved yet you gave
To prove your love for me
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude
All that I am, and ever hope to be
I owe it all to thee
To God be the glory, to God be the glory
To God be the glory for the things he has done
With his blood he has saved me
With his power he has raised me
To God be the glory for the things he has done
Just let me live my life and
Let it be pleasing Lord to thee
And if I gain any praise, let it go to Calvary
With his blood he has saved me
With his power he has raised me
To God be the glory for the things he has done!
