Theme for this week: “New Year 2022”
January 6, 2022 (Thursday)
This is blog number four as we look forward to life in 2022.
A grand old song from Lina Sandell Berg in the 1800s reminds us that God is watching over us every day:
Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here.
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Yesterday’s blog urged us to think positive thoughts and avoid thinking negative thoughts. Today’s blog gives us a schedule for doing that: “one day at a time.” “One Day at a Time” is the title of a song written in 1973 that expresses the feelings of many people as they struggle with life.
We climb stairs one step at a time; we live our lives one day at a time.
On January 1, 2022, we were handed 365 precious days. Each day the Lord reveals new opportunities to serve Him by meeting needs all around us. Each day we meet people who need the Lord, and we can share our faith with them. Each day we brush shoulders or hear about those in need. We can help.
The Apostle Paul was excited as he thought about what he would do with each day. He would do whatever Christ Led him to do. He said, “To me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” If we live in Christ, we are trusting Him completely. We do this day by day.
We can live for Christ..one day at a time.
ONE DAY AT A TIME
Marjohn Wilkin
1973
I’m only human
I’m just a woman
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am
Oh, show me the stairway
That I have to climb
Lord, for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time
One day at a time, sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking of You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
Oh, do you remember
When You walked among men
Well, Jesus, You know
If You’re looking below
That it’s worse now than then
Oh, there’s pushing and shoving
And it’s crowding my mind
So, Lord, for my sake
Teach me to take
One day at a time
One day at a time, sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking of You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Oh, yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
Lord, help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
One day at a time
