Thankful for Jesus

Theme for week: Thanksgiving Week

November 26, 2021 (Friday)

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV).

Many people have a long holiday extending from Thanksgiving Day to the following Monday. Seems that most people travel to be with family on Thanksgiving Day. After that one day, people relax, nibble leftovers, talk over old times and enjoy being with each other.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. We should keep on thanking God for His blessings upon us, and, as the song says, “It will surprise us what the Lord has done.” As we thank God for what He gives us, let us not forget to thank Him for loving us, caring for us and blessing us. We are not only thankful for the given; we are thankful for the Giver. And the greatest gift is His Son, our Savior. Let us be thankful for the Father, who rules the universe and loves us. Let us be thankful for His Son, who died on the Cross for us. And let us be thankful for the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.

Christmas Day arrives in about a month. Let us concentrate on the coming of Christ into the world, His power to save people who trust Him, and His willingness to make them a blessing to others.

Yes, we have many blessings today, and we praise God for them all. But the greatest gift ever given to anyone is the gift of God’s Son to a lost and dying world. He came to seek and to save the lost. He died, suffering the full penalty for our sins. He rose from the dead and lives today at the right hand of the Father. He lives! Praise God. Let us be thankful for Jesus, the gift above all gifts!
