Just A Closer Walk with Thee

Theme this week: Walking with the Lord

October 25, 2021 (Monday)

The song, “Just A Closer Walk with Thee,” is so familiar to us, and means so much to us that it’s hard for us to realize that no one knows who wrote it. I’m sure if the writer knew that the song would bring honor and glory to God that He was happy about that, and glad that so many people have been blessed by it for more than a century.

It is because we are weak and the Lord is strong that we depend upon Him for spiritual strength, which He freely gives to us when we ask.

We know very well how sad we can become when we are not walking with the Lord. It’s a bad situation when we feel that we are not close to the Lord. The old song, “It’s Real,” has a verse that describes that lonely walk: “Oh, how well do I remember how I doubted day by day, when I did not know for certain that my sins were washed away. When the Spirit tried to tell me, I would not the truth receive; I endeavored to be happy and to make myself believe.” Do those words describe your feelings today? Are you walking alone, missing out on fellowship with the Lord? Have doubts crowded out your assurance of salvation?

Do you long for a closer walk with the Lord? Even if you are walking closely with Him, would you like to have a closer walk?

JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE
Anonymous

I am weak but Thou art strong
Jesus keep me from all wrong
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be dear Lord, let it be

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be dear Lord, let it be

When my feeble life is over
Time for me will be no more
Guide me gently, safely over
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be dear Lord, let it be
