September 24, 2021 (Friday)
Today is my 90th birthday.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I’m glad you and I are still here. God has not yet called us home.
One of the sad results of growing old is the loss of friends and family who have gone on to Heaven. The longer we live, the fewer earthly friends remain. Yet, the longer we live, the longer we serve the Lord and the sweeter that relationship grows. The friends and family members who remain grow more precious every day. Our longevity seems to bind our hearts together more strongly than ever, as we count our blessings and share our memories.
I have been publishing one blog every day, since 2007, with the exception of about seven years (2008-2015) when I changed to a weekday-only blog. The total number of published blogs is approximately 4,580. In my advanced years, beginning Monday, I will publish new blogs when possible, continuing to republish old blogs when appropriate. I will no longer publish blogs on weekends.
My thanks to those who have been reading the blog through the years. All 4,580 blogs appear in the archives, found at the close of each blog. If you would like to read some of them again, there is a search box there so you can enter words that remind you of what you may be looking for. I’m sorry that I never got around to categorizing the blogs.
Thank you, First Baptist Church of Rockport, for sponsoring the blog. Thank you, Phyllis Smith, for encouraging me to write a blog. Thank you, Patty Albin, for being the administrator of the blog, and helping me out of some tough spots in writing it and keeping up with procedures. And thanks to Dwight Fake, my son and resident computer expert, who works hard at helping me keep things straight as programs change. Again, a huge “thank you” to all of you who have been reading the blogs.
God bless you all.
