My, how time flies
DECEMBER 10, 2007 (MONDAY) – Here at the wonderful First Baptist Church of Rockport, Texas, the second Sunday of December has come and gone, and was a full day. We worshiped at 8:30 a.m. with the regular Praise and Worship service, complete with a sermon. Then at 11:00 a.m., we heard the Children’s choirs and the handbells, which also were played in the corridor for worshipers moving from place to place in the buildings. We had the evening service, with another sermon, then the rehearsal for next weekend’s Christmas program by the choir and drama group. People were at the church house later than usual, even for the ones accustomed to remaining for rehearsals. We are very thankful for the many people who are a part of the program, which will be presented Saturday December 15 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday December 16 at 11:00 a.m. In addition to the special programs, we will have the regular 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. services, with sermons, December 16.
This Wednesday, December 12, we will have our churchwide Christmas fellowship meal, with tamales as the main course. We deeply appreciate those who are making this special meal possible for all of us. On the next Wednesday evening, December 19, we will have our regular monthly business meeting.
After next Sunday, only one Sunday, December 23, remains before Christmas. We will have all our regular services on that day, with the exception of the evening service, which will be moved to Christmas Eve, when we have a special program and observe the Lord’s Supper. With Christmas on Tuesday this year, we will not have Wednesday services the day following.
This leaves only December 30 remaining in the December schedule. We will have regular 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services that day, and the evening service at 6:00 p.m. will be “Music Night,” with special music and no sermon at the worship experience.
A couple of days later, and it’s January, 2008. My, how time flies.
