Nine Eleven

“Nine eleven.”
Before September 11, 2001 we were familiar with the three numbers as the number to call in an emergency. We pronounced the number as “Nine-one-one.” Since that fateful day in America we have added a designation of those three numbers and made them into words that everyone immediately recognizes: “Nine eleven.”
Today is the 14th anniversary of the attack. All of the passengers on four airliners died that day as terrorists seized control of them. The vicious murderers crashed two of them into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and another into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The fourth plane was redirected by the monsters toward the Capitol but as courageous passengers and crew fought for control it crashed into the ground near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The terrorists succeeded in killing 2,977 innocent people that day.

Those terrorists and all other suicide killers expect to be rewarded in Heaven and praised by their god for killing thousands of ambushed people, but there is no such Heaven for them in this vast universe. What kind of twisted morality can turn mass murder into a religious experience?
The trail of destruction, hatred and death has followed that awful day, and thousands more have died. The threats are real. There will be more tragic events to come. Ignorance has been enthroned by evil leaders and the numbers of those who blindly follow them grows daily.
Let no American go through this day without remembering and mourning, remaining fully aware that we are at war and there’s more to come.
It is a good day to remember and recite 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (NIV).
