Lost and Found

We’re sad when we lose things, but happy when we find them.
I lost my car keys last week, but found them in a matter of hours. I don’t know how I lost them, nor do I know how they turned up where they were found. But I was certainly happy about finding them in any case.
I dropped my cell phone between the two front seats in my car. As I probed the area, my hand came upon a small bottle of eyeglass lens cleaner. I had not lost it, but I found it. And I have made good use of it ever since.
found.jpgJesus talked about lost and found. He told little stories about a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son. In every situation there was great rejoicing when the sheep was retrieved, the coin found, and the son came home. He said, “The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Then he declared, “As the Father has sent me, so send I you.”
Just as we grieve over lost stuff, God grieves over lost people. He wanted to get them back so badly that He sent His One and Only Son to make a way for them to return to Him. If you are away from God, he wants you back. Today.
