The most important belief held by Christians is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Belief in His resurrection is essential to salvation.
Why do I say that? Because that’s what the Bible says. Here’s what it says: “..if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9 NKJV).
All of the great leaders of history died and their burial place is known. But when the tomb of Jesus was visited, he was not found there. Instead, angels were there who announced, “He is not here; He is risen!” For the next forty days he appeared to groups from one to five hundred or more, and then He ascended to Heaven. He now lives in the hearts of believers. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because we know He holds the future, life is worth the living. We can even face death with hope because He has prepared a place in Heaven for those who love Him as their Savior and Lord.
Because He lives, we can enter a personal relationship with Him. He is our friend, and through His Spirit, He leads us in making decisions, He comforts us in our pain and suffering, and He leads us into a much better life than would have been ours without Him.
In the Bible book of Acts, chapter 16, a man asked the Apostle Paul, “What must I do to be saved?” and was given the answer, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Do you believe in Him? Do you have hope for tomorrow because He lives today?
