Jesus told us (Matthew 7:24-27) that we must be wise in our choices if our lives are to be meaningful and happy:
“So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!”
What is the foundation for your life? Is it weak or strong? Is it temporary or permanent? Can it withstand the storms and floods of life?
Jesus offers us a firm foundation through faith in Him.
If we choose to go our own way, refuse to have faith in God, and neglect the spiritual side of life, we are building our lives on a weak foundation that cannot withstand the onslaughts of temptations and trials.
If, on the other hand, we surrender ourselves to Jesus, not only hearing his words but obeying them, then we are building our lives on a strong foundation that will never fail.
What will you do with your life? The choice is yours. Your life is literally in your hands. It would be wise to place it in the Lord’s hands.
