Third John – a devotional thought

Third John is a personal letter from the Apostle John to his friend, Gaius. John commends Gaius for his hospitality that has proved itself to be a blessing to the church, encouraging and helping evangelists as they shared the gospel. In contrast, a man named Diotrophes has not welcomed the good teachers, and has forbidden others to do so. He deserves to be called, “evil.” Another person, Demetrius, is a good man like Gaius.

Third John – a devotional thought

“Dear friend, I am praying that all is well with you and that your body is as healthy as I know your soul is” (1:2 TLB).

Gaius receives a compliment and blessing from John when John says his prayer for Gaius is that his health will be in as good condition as his soul. Do you know of someone who could be blessed by knowing that you prayed for him/her like this?
Another thought we might consider: if suddenly our physical health were the same as our spiritual health, how healthy would we be?
