Chili and Cornbread

Yesterday was cold and rainy, and since several of our members at Bethel are visiting out of town this week, and others are involved with sick family members, our little Wednesday night group decided to call off the service last night. We are studying the life of Paul and have come to Acts 15, The Jerusalem Conference, in which the will of God concerning the salvation of the Gentiles was considered with much concern and prayer. We’ll take it up next Wednesday, instead.
Since it was a cold and rainy day, I made some cornbread, opened a can of refried beans, a can of chili and a can of beef tamales. Decorated the plate with chili con queso and sour cream, poured a glass of milk, and, my amigos and amigas, enjoyed myself immensely. (At least the cornbread was home made).
Next Wednesday is known as “Ash Wednesday,” and is faithfully observed by many of our friends. It is the first day of the Lenten season, which is a time of rededication for six weeks, ending with Easter.
Since Mardi Gras is very much a part of the week before Ash Wednesday, I took a peek at NOLA.com, for all the news about New Orleans. As I suspected, they have planned many parades, and they are already under way. New Orleans has several cameras in place and what they see can be seen by anyone on the internet. So, if that interests you, take a look. I wrote a blog a few weeks ago about Mardi Gras, etc. You can review it here, if you like.

So, there are special days in the offing. However, every day is special, if you want it to be, and if you know how to see it.
