Christmas Is Over

Here we are once again at “The Day After Christmas.” Christmas is over.
We can pack away our trees and tinsel. We can put our unused gift wrapping back into its safe corner until next year. We can store our DVD’s that feature Ebeneezer Scrooge’s fateful lessons to be kind and generous. We can forget about “Joy to the World.” We can return to our everyday ways of “dog eat dog.”
Well, maybe not today. The Christmas Season doesn’t really end until the New Year arrives. Then we make fancy resolutions and promise ourselves to be better people in 2014 than we were in 2013.
Do you follow the charts that illustrate how well stocks are doing? A good stock has a graph chart that shows a steady rise, year after year. That rise, however, always includes a few dips in value along the way. The steady direction, however, of a good stock is upwards. It’s sort of like our lives. If we know the Lord, and are sincerely dedicated to Him and His Ways, we are steadily maturing, with a few dips along the way.
Christmas is over, but that does not mean we have to stop what we have been doing this past month. We can keep on being generous, forgiving, and kind, spreading the joy of knowing Jesus as Savior and Lord, day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year, until God calls us home.
