Born for a Purpose

The title of yesterday’s blog was “Born to..” and it zeroed in on a tattoo that says, “Born to lose.” I looked up “Born to” later and found that those two words can be followed by hundreds, maybe thousands of verbs. Some of the first phrases the search produced were, “Born to die,” “Born to be wild,” “Born to run,” etc. You get the idea, I’m sure.
If you had to state in a simple phrase your own purpose in life, what would it be? Think of something that you do extremely well–could that be the purpose for which you were born?
It’s easy to list the people in the Bible who were definitely born for a purpose. Noah was born to salvage mankind and animal life. Moses was born to save a nation. John the Baptist was born to prepare the way for the Messiah. Jesus was born to save us all. Paul was born to take the gospel to the Gentile world. We could go on.
Why were you born? Do you know? Evidently many have an interest in this subject. Rick Warren wrote a book entitled, “The Purpose-Driven Life: What On Earth Am I Here For?” and it became the number one best selling book, sought by millions of people interested in knowing more about the subject.
If you believe you were born for a purpose, then would it not be wise to know what that purpose is? Perhaps the beginning place for your search is Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness..”
