I read an interesting story recently about a tattoo. A guy was just killing time in a strange town, and looked into the display window of a tattoo parlor. He saw all sorts of designs and writings that were available for tattooing. One caught his eye: “Born to Lose.” His curiosity got the best of him and he entered the shop to ask the tattoo artist about it. “Why would a person want, ‘Born to Lose’ as a tattoo?” “Ah,” the artist replied, “the tattoo is in the mind before it’s on the body.”
Sad to say, there are many people in the world who consider themselves “born to lose.” They have given up on the idea of success in life and given themselves over to a hopeless existence. They may not wear a tattoo, “Born to lose,” but they have tattooed themselves in their own minds.
How many people do you know who need a new start in life? Can a person actually begin again with a new attitude? Yes! “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT). The old person may have thought himself born to lose, but the new person in Christ is born to win, and can say with the Apostle Paul, ” I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (Philippians 3:14 NLT).
