One of the most beautiful and meaningful verses of Scripture in the Bible is Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (NIV).
Henry James said, “Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
An anonymous poem, based upon a quotation from Stephen Grellet (1773-1855), expresses the meaning of kindness:
“Through this toilsome world, alas!
Once and only once I pass;
If a kindness I may show.
If a good deed I may do
To a suffering fellow man,
Let me do it while I can.
No delay, for it is plain
I shall not pass this way again.”
