Disaster

The devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma captured the headlines and became the lead stories on T.V. news this week.
Texas has more tornadoes than any other state, but Oklahoma has the most dangerous storms. The Oklahoma storm at times was a mile wide at its base and wrought havoc for a seventeen-mile-long densely populated stretch of the state. It will be recorded as EF5.
Those of us who live on the hurricane-prone coast of Texas do so knowing full well that hurricanes hit our area sooner or later. Those who live in the tornado-prone areas of Oklahoma know that tornadoes will come and may directly impact their own lives. When these events occur, however, just knowing beforehand that it could happen does not make the devastation any easier to bear.
The people there need our prayers. It’s hard to imagine what they are going through. If you can help, you may want to contribute to your favorite organization that provides for the needs of those affected by the storm.
There is no need to ask, “Why?” when we know that the weather behaves according to the natural laws that bring both beautiful days and stormy ones. When we are directly affected, We just have to do the best we can and ask the Lord for help in coping with whatever comes to us in this life.
