This Day

This day in history: In 1933, actress Joan Collins was born. In 1934, police killed Bonnie and Clyde. In 1941, Joe Louis defeated Buddy Baer to retain his heavyweight boxing title. In 1945, Heinrich Himmler committed suicide after being arrested by the British. In 1960, Adolph Eichmann was captured. Also on that same day, a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Chile, hit Hilo, Hawaii.
Something is going on, every day. Some of it welcome, some of it, not. But life moves on, with or without our approval.
What kind of a day will this day be for you? One thing is certain, and that is that you yourself will determine whether you do all you can to make it a good day.
One guy was in such a bad mood that when the clerk said, “Have a nice day,” he grabbed the clerk by the collar and yelled, “Don’t tell me what kind of day to have!”
Charlie Chaplin wrote a song that I like very much. It’s called, “Smile.” It’s a key to having a good day, and goes like this: “Smile though your heart is aching. Smile even though it’s breaking. When there are clouds in the sky you’ll get by. If you smile through your fear and sorrow Smile and maybe tomorrow You’ll see the sun come shining through For you. Light up your face with gladness, Hide every trace of sadness. Although a tear may be ever so near That’s the time you must keep on trying. Smile, what’s the use of crying. You’ll find that life is still worthwhile–If you just smile.”
You’ll have a better day if you try to smile. May 23, 2013, a good day to smile. Have a nice day.
