Votes Counted

November 4, 2020 (Wednesday)

Here we are on the day after the election and votes are still being counted. There was a record turnout of voters this time around. One hundred million people voted early, some by mail, and then others went to the polls on election day, as most of us have done in the past.

As this is being written Tuesday evening, we do not know the results of the voting.

Let me repeat, we have a Christian duty to pray for the president and all government leaders, according to Romans 13. It is significant to me that Paul followed his own advice and offered prayers to God in behalf of the Roman emperor who would eventually have him executed for the crime of knowing Christ and following Him as Lord.

Let us remember that as believers in Christ we are citizens of the Kingdom of God, which exists in the hearts of those who know the Lord as Savior. That kingdom includes followers of Jesus from the past, present and future and exists in the hearts of the saved in every country of the world . The kingdoms of this world shall someday cease to exist, but the Kingdom of God stands forever. Let us never forget that the kingdom that deserves priority in our lives is spiritual and is a kingdom that includes loyal subjects in every country of the world.

AMERICA
(My Country ‘Tis of Thee)

Words, Samuel Francis Smith
Music much older than this hymn

My country, ‘ tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountainside let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills, like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.

Our fathers’ God, to thee,
Author of liberty, to thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright
With freedom’s holy light;
Protect us by thy might, great God, our King.

Happy 54th Birthday to my son, Dwight Forest Fake Youngest of five, born in Corpus Christi
He and I live together and he keeps me going.
