Your Personal Testimony

I suggest four things that will help you grow as a Christian. *

These four things are simple things that no doubt are already part of your life. Here they are:

1. Go to church every week. Worship from your heart.
2. Pray every day.
3. Read your Bible every day.
4. Talk about Jesus. Tell someone that you have accepted Christ as Savior. Describe your experience in your own words. Just tell what you know.

Some Christians would like to know more about specific plans of witnessing. So I will suggest one such plan.

Years ago, Ralph Neighbour introduced a method of witnessing that is simple and effective. He called it, “Witness, take the stand.” He suggested sharing 4 things with a person who has not yet accepted Christ as Savior: 1. My life before I came to know Christ. 2. How I came to see my need of Christ. 3. My experience of accepting Christ as my Savior. 4. My life since I became a Christian. He suggested stating these points simply and quickly so that it is all said within 2 minutes. After giving this witness, you may ask the person, “Has anything like that every happened to you?” If they say, “No,” then you can continue the conversation as the Lord leads you in leading that person to accept Christ as Savior. **.

I will try out this plan. Here goes:

I was not raised as a Christian, but my best friend’s family befriended me, took me to church, and I heard the gospel message that God loves me, Jesus died for me and rose from the dead for me. I accepted Christ as Savior at age 11. At age 17, I made a promise to God to follow His will for my life and I have been His servant ever since.

Why not go over this simple plan in your mind, making it personal, about your own experience of becoming a Christian? One of these days the opportunity to share your experience will arrive, and it will be right there in your mind, ready to share in 2 minutes time.

HIS WAY MINE
Dick Baker
1954

God has a place for every planned creation,
A path for every star to go.
He drew the course for every river’s journey,
Now I know he has a way for me.

Chorus:
I place my life in the hands of God.
Those hands so scarred now outstretched for me.
Where ever it may be, over land, over sea,
May thy will sublime, O Thou God divine, be mine.

Now in His will my soul finds life worth living,
Each day new blessings from above.
Tho shadows come and valleys seem unending,
Still I know He makes a way for me.
Chorus
