Overcoming Frustration

September 16, 2020 (Wednesday)

Frustration is defined as the feeling of being upset or annoyed, especially because of the inability to change or achieve something. Wikipedia says, “In psychology, frustration is a common emotional response to opposition, related to anger, annoyance and disappointment. Frustration arises from the perceived resistance to the fulfillment of an individual’s will or goal and is likely to increase when a will or goal is denied or blocked.”

Have you ever felt frustration with God when you or someone you love goes through hard times? If so, you aren’t alone. In fact, many people become frustrated with God from time to time. Although it’s a normal thing to do, it’s unfortunate that we get frustrated with God, for he is our best friend. Yet since we are human, it happens.

We need to know that we can be real with God. God sees our heart, so we are only fooling ourselves if we try to pretend that we are content with whatever God’s will is if we are dissatisfied with it. Truthfully we are sometimes frustrated with what’s going on. We ask God’s help but it seems He does not hear us. We pray, “Thy will be done” but we do not really mean that. We want our own will to be done at times.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing to become frustrated with God. When I feel that way, I am showing how little I understand his love, his goodness, and his purpose for my life. I need to face my real feelings and deal with them.

The better I know God, and the longer I walk with him, the less likely I am to resist His will for my life. Little by little, as the days go by, I draw closer to Him. I love Him, and rejoice in His forgiveness that is so undeserved

King David expressed complaints toward God, but every time he ended up praising God.

We need to learn how to pray as Jesus prayed. “Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, .. and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.’ .. He fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.'” (Matthew 28:36-39 NIV).

Beautiful Savior

1677

1 Beautiful Savior, King of creation,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love Thee, truly I’d serve thee,
Light of my soul, my Joy, my Crown.

2 Fair are the meadows, Fair are the woodlands,
Robed in flow’rs of blooming spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer;
He makes our sorr’wing spirit sing.

3 Fair is the sunshine, Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.

4 Beautiful Savior, Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!
