I am sharing with you an article from Pearland about my daughter-in-law, Janet Fake. Her friends and family, including me, are very proud of her. She has been honored by the Pearland School District.
Janet Fake: ESC Employee of the Year
Thanks to her customer service attitude and problem-solving skills, Technology Department secretary Janet Fake was an easy candidate for 2012 Education Support Center Employee of the Year.
Fake has served nearly 20 years in Pearland ISD.
After working five years as a technology aide at C.J. Harris Elementary, Fake transitioned into her current position. In the past 13 years, she has seen Technology expand from five employees to more than 40.
Each day Fake carries out the department’s mission: providing technology that enhances instruction and increases creation and collaboration. In just a few phone calls, she can link the right staff member to the right campus to ensure that students have the resources they need for classroom instruction and projects.
Her daily tasks range from checking employee clock-ins and absences to problem-solving campus technology issues over the phone and interacting with technology vendors.
Above all, though, Fake considers her greatest contribution to be assisting with building Pearland ISD’s network.
“Our server room is the heart of the district, supporting almost every area — from providing phones to curriculum-based software. The new Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Bring Your Own Device initiative are increasing the use of technology for our students in a big way. I am thrilled to see these advancements and to be able to do my part to make them happen,” she said.
