Something new on the scene

The ice cream sundae originated in the late 1800’s, actual date and place of origin in doubt, although there is a lot of speculation about these factors as well as the name, “sundae.” In the absence of hard evidence, perhaps it’s best to leave these matters in the hands of the researchers.
The latest ice cream sundae idea is being offered this summer by Burger King: the Bacon Sundae. It started in Nashville, Tenn. earlier this year. It contains 510 calories and is a dish of vanilla soft serve with fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles and a piece of bacon. Read more here.
I love ice cream but I don’t eat it often, because somehow it seems to avoid my digestive system and immediately adds itself to the fatty places of my body. I never thought about adding bacon to ice cream, but the more I think about it the more appealing the idea becomes. After all, if chicken-fried pickles are so delicious, wouldn’t bacon-topped ice cream be tasty, too?
I have a friend who was asked, “What would you do if you knew the Lord was going to return in one hour?” Her reply: “I’d go buy a big carton of Snickers candy bars and eat them every one.” If I happen to be near a Burger King when I get the news, I will probably step inside and order a Bacon Sundae.
