Stop. Look. Listen.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 (WEDNESDAY) – Have you tried listening to the Bible as it is read to you online?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you do a Google search for audio Bibles, you may come up with a list like this. I followed the link for a few of them, and found them all very helpful. The first one on my Google search results list is the King James Version, read by Alexander Scourby, now deceased, but his marvelous voice was captured on recordings. The office staff gave me a copy of that audio Bible when I was pastor here years ago. I love hearing that man read the Bible.
The other references are all worth following up. Various versions and readers are available. Just follow the instructions on the screen. It’s easy.
If you want to read the Bible through, and find that goal sometimes difficult to reach, you will be surprised by how quickly entire chapters just flow from one into the next, as you listen. Before you know it, you have heard an entire book of the Bible, if that’s your choice.
If you prefer reading to listening, a great many programs can help.
I have found Crosswalk to be of tremendous value. Everything you need is there. If you gathered all those books atop your desk, you would have a difficult time keeping everything orderly. On the computer, you can easily move from the Bible text to the commentaries and back. It’s a great way to do a lot more Bible study in a limited amount of time. The companion site, with many Bibles available, is Bible Gateway. I always start on the page that lets me select a specific chapter.
I encourage you to use some of these tools to study the Bible.
