The Beatles had a song named,”Yesterday,” in which sadness is expressed for its loss. The song seems to say that our “yesterdays” are better than our “todays.” We must resist the temptation to miss out on changes that make us glad by dwelling on changes that make us sad.
Ben Speer sings the hymn of today’s blog, “Time Has Made A Change in me,” and though it has a sad sound, it is optimistic and looks forward to a much better day. As followers of Christ, we can have hope for the future and gladness today in our hearts because of that great hope in “a better tomorrow” and a glorious future in Heaven with Christ.
Suppose for a moment that you could hear what God hears when people pray. You might be driven mad because, with billions of people in the world, millions of prayers are being offered to God all the time. Many of those prayers plead for God’s help in crises. God is infinitely greater than we are in every way and so He hears all the prayers and pays attention to every one of them.
As we grow older, we lose our friends and our health begins to fail. We long for a better day. God hears us when we pray and He is right there with us every day. Let us pray to become more aware of His presence and His help. He wants us to have hope, and He freely provides all that we need to have that hope. A person must receive Christ to be saved, and then He must be willing to receive hope if he or she is going to have that hope.
TIME HAS MADE A CHANGE IN ME
Harkins Freye
1920s
Time has made a change since my childhood days;
Many of my friends have gone away,
Some I never more in this life will see
Time has made a change in me.
Chorus:
Time has made a change in the old home place;
Time has made a change in each smiling face,
And I know my friends can plainly see
Time has made a change in me.
In my childhood days, I was well and strong
I could climb the hillside all day long,
I am not today what I used to be
Time has made a change in me.
Chorus
When I reach my home in that land somewhere,
With my friends who wait to meet me over there,
Free from pain and care I’ll forever be,
Time has made a change in me.
Chorus
