I Never Shall Forget the Day

May 19, 2020 (Tuesday)

I like the chorus of an old hymn that goes like this: “I can tell you now the time, I can take you to the place where the Lord saved me by His wonderful grace.”

Engraved on my heart and never to be forgotten is the experience of coming to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord of my life.  The hymn presented within this blog today emphasizes the importance of that first encounter with the Lord. Nothing has been the same since that day.

Everyone who has come to know the Lord has been converted — changed from what he or she used to be (or would have become) to the person he or she is today. I’m reminded of an old prayer: “Lord, I ain’t what I used to be. Lord, I ain’t what I oughta be. But thank you, Lord, that I ain’t what I used to be.”

The contrast is drastic, as revealed by Romans 6:23, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.”

I NEVER SHALL FORGET THE DAY
G. T. Speer
1937

Long years ago when out in sin
I had no hope no peace within
Down on my knees in agony
I prayed to Jesus and He gladly set me free

I never shall forget the day
And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away
It made me happy, be glad and free
I’ll sing and shout it, God means everything to me

Now I can feel him at my side
My fewer steps, he comes to guide
When trials come, he comforts me
To faith in him or sin I have a victory

I never shall forget the day
And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away
It made me happy, be glad and free
I’ll sing and shout it, God means everything to me

Oh, sinner come to Jesus now
At His dear feet just humbly bow
Confess to Him your every sin
He’ll save and cleanse you, give you peace and joy within

I never shall forget the day
And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away
It made me happy, be glad and free
I’ll sing and shout it, God means everything to me

At the close of each Tuesday blog I write about the presidents, in the order of their service.

Today’s president is
