People Need the Lord

May 18, 2020 (Monday)

Years ago Barbara Streisand recorded a very popular song named “People.” The first line said, “People who need people are the luckiest people in the world.” I agree that people need people. They also need the Lord. So about that time another song was sung a lot in churches, entitled, “People Need the Lord.”

Paul wrote in the New Testament that people need to believe in order to be saved. Then he said, “but first they need to hear.” In order to hear the gospel, someone must share the message. And that’s us — you and I. The Bible says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so” (Psalm 107:2 KJV).

Let us share with others the best news ever given to this world — the news that God loved us and sent His Son to be our Savior. If we believe in Him, we will be saved.

PEOPLE NEED THE LORD
Words:Greg Nelson
Music: Phil McHugh
1983

Every day they pass me by
I can see it in their eyes
Empty people filled with care
Headed who knows where?

On they go through private pain
Living fear to fear
Laughter hides their silent cries
Only Jesus hears

People need the Lord
People need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams
He’s the open door
People need the Lord
People need the Lord
When will we realize
People need the Lord?

We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right
What could be too great a cost
For sharing life with one who’s lost?

Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear
They must hear the words of life
Only we can share

People need the Lord
People need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams
He’s the open door
People need the Lord
People need the Lord
When will we realize
That we must give our lives
For people need the Lord

People need the Lord
