Happiness is..

..to know the Savior

”picFinish this sentence: “Happiness is..” I’ve seen several versions of this and some of them come to mind: “Happiness is a warm puppy.” “Happiness is a good night’s sleep.” “Happiness is the first cup of coffee in the morning.” And on it goes. How would you finish the sentence?
Ira F. Stanphill (1914-1993) wrote that happiness is the Lord. He wrote more than 550 songs, the most popular of which are “Mansion over the Hilltop,” “Room at the Cross,” and, of course, “Happiness Is the Lord,” which he wrote one afternoon in 1974 as he was driving his car. The radio was on and he heard commercials touting happy hour somewhere, suggesting that alcoholic beverages and certain other things would bring happiness. His reaction was to sing in the car, and he found himself singing a new song, composing words and music as he drove. The song was later published almost exactly as he sang it that day.

Happiness Is The Lord
Happiness is to know the Savior,
Living a life within His favor,
Having a change in my behavior–
Happiness is the Lord.

Additional verses speak of being forgiven, finding purpose in life, and having a home in heaven.
Jesus said, “I came that you may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance, until it overflows. (John 10:10). Have you received Christ into your heart by faith? All that He offers can be yours if you will trust in Him.
