No Not One

January 30, 2020 (Thursday)

Jesus is our friend. A friend is someone who sticks with you, through sunshine and rain, good times and bad, bright days and dark nights, through it all. Jesus is described in this hymn as “meek and lowly.” That’s because He chose to empty Himself of Heavenly glory to become a human being. He nonetheless went about doing good and healing people. He is always with us; he never forsakes us. On the darkest days His love cheers us. He is preparing a place in Heaven for you. Has anyone else done that for you? “No, not one.”

NO, NOT ONE!
Words: Johnson Oatman, Jr.
Tune: George C. Hugg
1895

There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases,
No, not one! No, not one!

Chorus:
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!

No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! No, not one!
Chorus

There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! No, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! No, not one!
Chorus

Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
No, not one! No, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one! No, not one!
Chorus

Was e’er a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one! No, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in heaven?
No, not one! No, not one!
Chorus
