The good old days

When we could have a real malted milk

”picYou know, I really, really miss some of the things we used to enjoy, that don’t seem to be available anymore. One of those things is the old-fashioned malted milk at an old-fashioned soda fountain in an old-fashioned drug store.
Of course, it must be said quickly that if it were available today, I would not be able to have one very often because of the high number of calories. But, if that were not a problem, I would have one every day. If it were available. Which it is not.
Entire generations of people have been born since they quit making real malted milks. Hundreds of thousands of poor little boys and girls have never known the shear joy of tasting the real thing.
Remember how they used to bring you a tall frosted glass and a frosty can of refills? They put them before you on a marble counter, and no one made you hurry. Just take your time. Enjoy it to your heart’s delight. Oh, what sublime joy!
When we get to Heaven, will we have malted milk? The real thing? And no calories?
