Know the true cost

Before you decide or act

May 11, 2010 (Tuesday)
”picDr. James C. Denison, in God Issues Today, his daily blog, told us something yesterday that I’d like to share with you: It costs the federal government as much as nine cents to create a nickel and almost two cents to make a penny.
A simple conclusion comes to mind when I look at a nickel or a penny: “It’s not worth what it costs.”
Many a person has performed an ill-advised, unwise act, only to hear the question from a concerned party: “Was it worth it?” Was it worth what it’s going to cost you?
Prisoners throughout the world are languishing without hope, telling themselves every day, “It was not worth it.” That moment of foolishness, or of maliciousness, brought temporary prosperity or pleasure, but all that faded and now he is paying the price. The gain, whatever form it took, was not worth what it finally cost.
The real cost may be unreasonably high. Think before you act.
Before this day ends, someone will do something to regret. It could be a crime, or it could be just a mistake of some kind, something that person knows he/she should not do, but will do anyway. Remorse, regret, sorrow, depression, sadness, guilt and similar feelings will flood that soul, and that person will ask, “Was it worth it?”
If anybody sees this blog and stops to think before acting unwisely, or if a reader warns a friend or family member, then this little article will have served a noble purpose. Just be sure, be very sure, that whatever you do will be worth the cost.
