Who is Jesus?

Who is He to you?

April 12, 2010 (Monday)
”picAn old chorus we used to sing at church went like this: “Everybody oughta know, everybody oughta know, everybody oughta know who Jesus is.” The song goes on to describe Jesus with beautiful Biblical words. Guess they didn’t know that song when Jesus rode into town on Sunday before He was crucified on Friday, because they kept asking, “Who is this?”
So, how would you answer that question? Who is Jesus?
He is the One who loves you. He showed His love with His tears for the people of Jerusalem as He approached the city that day. He cared about them; He cares about you (“Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7 KJV).” He showed His love in His actions that week, surrendering to the will of His Father.
He is the One who died for you. He bore the pain of the cruel Roman cross. He shared the shame that all of us feel when we realize we have sinned. He took the blame as He died in our place, becoming the only true Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.
He is the One who can save you. He saved people like Zaccheus the tax man in Jericho, like the thief who asked for mercy as he was crucified with Jesus, and like the Apostle Paul whom Jesus met afterwards, turning his life inside out. Jesus saves people today. Believers through the centuries now number in the billions. As the hymn declares, “We have heard the joyful sound: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!”
Who is Jesus? He is the eternal Son of the living God, the One who made the worlds, virgin-born, sinless, who died that we may live, who lives that we may have victory over death itself. There are no words adequate to answer the question, “Who is this?” I hope you can sing with all the believers today, “He is so precious to me.”Who is He to you?
