Boy, it’s hot!

All-time high at Hobby for June

June 25, 2009 (Thursday)
picture of CharlesHansel and Gretel marked their trail to the Gingerbread cottage by dropping bread crumbs. A current T.V. commercial shows them using their G.P.S. device to find their way. The device works much better than bread crumbs.
Not only do such devices tell us where we are on the face of the planet, but some are programmed to give us directions as we drive, making use of a synthesized human voice.
What a day we live in. Once the technological age got under way, it kept growing in scope and significance. I saw a T.V. program yesterday about Thomas Edison and his many inventions. Many of the devices we use today sprang from his great mind. Oh, they may not have looked like they do today, but we could not have the present devices without the original ones.
Creativity cannot be taken for granted. Once an idea is “out there,” other ideas can be developed from it, but who comes up with the original? Give credit where it is due, and be thankful for the many things that help us to have more comfortable and productive lives today.
Yesterday’s temperature reached 104 degrees at Hobby airport. That’s an all-time record for the month of June. The air conditioners are humming; wonder where that idea came from? Great idea!
