Seasons of the year

..and seasons of life

picture of CharlesWell, it’s cool again, this time with some rain. It got so warm before the front came through that we were entertaining the idea that the cool weather was gone for good. The trees are blooming and the flowers are growing, so who can blame us for thinking “Spring has sprung.”
The cooler weather will be especially appreciated if we get measurable rain. I remember a March snowfall in Waco that was accompanied with really cold weather. Got pictures to prove it. Doesn’t look like there will be any weather like that down here in this part of the country.
The weather men on TV like changing weather. Gives them something to talk about. What they don’t like are those weeks and weeks of hot summer days and nights when nothing is changing from day to day. Weather’s a lot more interesting when it’s changing. Gives us something to talk about, a surefire topic of conversation.
Not everyone lives where there are real seasons. The folks in Montana have about one day of summer every year, and the people in the equatorial regions of the world never know winter. Don’t you love living where the seasons change? Every season has its charm.
When we think about seasons, we can’t help thinking about the seasons of life. Every stage of our lives is filled with new revelations and a measure of wonder. We love the innocence of childhood, the excitement of youth, the attainments of young adulthood and midlife, the wisdom of age, and the vicarious thrill of seeing our children journey through their lives. Every season is good in its own way. Enjoy each one.
