The Great Physician

The real one

Sin is a universal disease. We inherited it from our great great great……..grandpa and grandma, Adam and Eve. There’s something about our human family that makes it absolutely certain that we will sin sooner or later. We soon learn that sin brings trouble and suffering. Silly us. We thought God just wanted to keep us from having fun. He was really showing His love for us when He warned us to stay away from sin. Sin always brings pain of some kind; it’s built into its very nature.
Once we realize we have a problem with this universal sickness, we may try out a few doctors. We’ve tried Dr. Sincerity, Dr. Sophistication, Dr. Self-Righteousness, Dr. Church Membership, Dr. Excuses, and Dr. Self-Reformation, among others, but none of them helped. They’re all quacks.
There is, however, a real doctor who can help. Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Matt 9:12f NIV). Jesus is the Great Physician. If you believe in Him with all your heart and accept His gift of salvation, you can receive a new heart and a new life (Romans 10:9-10).
Do you need to see the doctor who cures the sinsick soul? Do you need Jesus?
