Without warning

Ready or not, here comes life

On mountain roads, one sometimes sees signs that warn of falling rocks. Usually they do not display the words, “falling rocks,” but instead falling rocks are portayed, tumbling down an inclined surface.
It seems to me that life would be a little easier for us if we were warned about the falling rocks ahead. Seems like life’s falling rocks hit us at times when we are least expecting them.
The highway signs warn of the possibility of falling rocks. If we ever have had to take evasive action to avoid falling rocks on the highway, we have appreciated being forewarned of the possibility. There will be no such warning in life. So beware. Anything can happen. And usually does.
You have been warned.
