My great grand daughter, Claire, recently took a ride. She does not appear to be frightened even a little bit. Maybe that’s because she knows something that makes her confident that she has no need to fear.
Of course, she is just having a good old time because she knows she has nothing to fear.
When I think about the Twenty-Third Psalm, and the words, “I will fear no evil for thou art with me,” I get a real good feeling.
When the real enemies in life pounce upon us, like sickness and death, we can be comforted and consoled with the knowledge that the Lord is with us. He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can say, “I will not fear.”
When I think about fear, I remember a verse in the Bible: “Perfect love casts out fear.”
We need not fear because we are never alone. The Lord is always with us, and always ready and willing to help us.
So bring on the “lions and tigers and bears” and gators, Oh, my! We can stare any threat in the face and firmly declare, “I am not afraid of you. My trust is in the Lord.”
“When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows, like sea billows, roll, Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, ‘It is well, it is well with my soul.”
