Mountains and Valleys

The song for today contains the words, ” the God of the good times is still God in the bad times, The God of the day is still God in the night.”
I’m sure many who are reading this know exactly what those words mean because they have experienced the bad times and good times, the dismal nights and the bright days of life. The Lord encourages us to trust Him in all situations, because He loves and helps us. He said, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 NIV).
I remember the “bad” times when my world fell in on me and I experienced “the dark night of the soul.” I also remember that the Lord never forsook me; he was always with me. We walked through the valleys together. I also remember the bright, shiny and happy days when blessings flowed like refreshing waterfalls upon my thirsty soul. God’s presence was unmistakable. In both kinds of circumstances I need to remember that the Lord told us, “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN
Tracy Dartt
1973

Life is easy, when you’re up on the mountain
And you’ve got peace of mind, like you’ve never known
But things change, when you’re down in the valley
Don’t lose faith, for you’re never alone

For the God on the mountain, is still God in the valley
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right
And the God of the good times
Is still God in the bad times
The God of the day is still God in the night

We talk of faith way up on the mountain
Talk comes so easy when life’s at its best
Now down in the valleys, of trials and temptations
That’s where your faith is really put to the test

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right
And the God of the good times
Is still God in the bad times
The God of the day, is still God in the night
The God of the day, is still God in the night
